It was a bit of busy morning when Jean-Luc contacted me about his plan of proposing to his girlfriend. After 4 years of dating he knew she was the one. So he got the ring in conspiracy with Elise‘s mom, arranged a wine tasting at Bench 1775 Winery, and booked me, the photographer. The purpose was for it all to be a total surprise, making it unexpected and special at the same time. So, I wanted to share a few tips on how to plan your marriage proposal successfully.
After a series of phone calls and texts with Jean-Luc, the plan was for me to hide while he bent the knee, and document the moment. I hid behind the bush, and after they were done with their wine they headed down to look at the view (which by the way it’s amazing at Bench 1775) and take some photos. He took her to the arch and was taking some photos of her with his camera, something normal for them – Elise herself is a photographer- and he asked her to turn around and face the view for one more shot. He got on his knee then, and what followed was one of the most beautiful moments, and lots of happy tears and utter surprise.
She said yes, and the mission was successful! After they had their moment I walked up to them to introduce myself and be the first one to congratulate them – which I always love!
We then walked around the vineyard and took some fun portraits to seal the memories of that special afternoon for them.
